World Food Programme to help Haiti through the bad weather

The World Food Programme (WFP) has sent two million tons of food to Haiti to assist the population during the rainy and hurricane season.

The UN agency has stockpiled two million daily rations and food ready to eat, along with 1,000 metric tons of high protein biscuits .La Geneva WFP spokeswoman Emilia Casella said the agency is also distributing 20,000 metric tons of food in 14 different points of the country, enough to feed one million people for six weeks.

"In addition, WFP is supporting the relocation of internally displaced persons in camps in the most vulnerable part of the capital, food offering ready to eat for a week, and other general rations for 15 days, "said Casella.
